we have situation have domain controllers across world have own child dns domains: ex.   sitea.mycompany.com , siteb.mycompany.com, etc these sites have own internet connectivity mpls company's data center. currently remote dns servers have forwarders point dns servers in data center.    the data center dns servers have forwarders go out internet resolve outside dns queries. this solution works, side effect have noticed related websites utilize akamai.    since outside dns queries being sourced data center dns servers, akamai returning ip addresses closest data center in us, , not remote sites spread out across world.   in order fix need local dns servers go out local internet connection , resolve own external dns queries.   akamai see source ip local site , return ip closer site us. the data center dns servers have dns zones can expanded @ time: ex.   mycompany.com, domain-today.com, lookhere1.local, etc.     ...

i running 2 servers microsoft hyper-v server 2012 (core) , using hyper-v replica between 2 servers.  both ends have 30/5 mbps connections (down/up). there 1 vm on each server being replicated.  most of changes/data accumulated on servera. i setup servera , serverb side side first replication , moved serverb remote location. recently there lot of data added servera (around 300-400 gb).  over past several weeks more data has been added.  in checking replica stats showed peak of around 980 gb. around september 9th replication stopped while serverb showed vm "modifying resource."  this continued several hours. afterwards replication resumed.  (i don't recall if had manually restart replication or if resumed on own.)  but still had several hundred gb replicate. last night replication around 95%.  a few hours later assume must have hit 100% when checked found replication had stopped , serverb again showing servera vm ...

hello hyper-v pros! i have interesting problem. have windows server 2008 machine set hyper-v host. on resides several virtual machines, running windows server 2008, 1 or 2 running windows server 2003. there 2 physical nics on host, , have 1 virtual network set external, connected first nic. of these machines on domain, can access internet, , reachable other physical machines on same subnet, in same site. now, have remote site on same ad domain, on different subnet. these 2 sites connected via isa 2006 site-to-site l2tp vpn connection, , set allow traffic between 2 sites. however, have discovered unable access (ping, share access, etc.) of virtual servers running server 2008 remote site. remote site can access virtual machine if running windows server 2003, , can access windows server 2008 machine if physical machine. can't access server 2008 virtual machines remote site. exceedingly frustrating , cannot figure out why is! one other thing note: cannot access of servers in remote sit...

a few days ago i updated our w2k8 r2 domain controllers , few 2008r2 servers august 2010 updates wu. after restart noticed domain location profile substituted public profile. this happens on 2008 r2 domain member servers , w7 domain clients @ next reboot [or when network changes]. windows 2008 member servers , vista clients keep domain profile , seems not affected.   has seen behavior or know what's wrong? regards, rune flo.   problem solved. we have leftover [intended] gpo entry our first directaccess attempt. “corporate domain location determination url” gp pointed our network location server. nls server still operative [and waiting next uag 2010 directaccess shot], somehow [nls] webserver certificate got corrupted giving error when binding port 443. deleting old , bind new certificate solved problem. this explain why 2008 r2 , w7 affected. nla service apparently check both “ad ping” , nls connection before determine ne...
