hello, i have server deployed in small business environment (server 2012 essentials (not r2)) now .. formatted 2 of data partitions refs thinking best thing do, use on own nas storage server , happy way works. however realised mistake because windows server backup not allow incremental backups refs partition :( the backup destination wd external usb drive of 2tb. i have removed backup plan wsb can access external drive. i have backed data of 1 of refs partitions external drive, reformatted partition ntfs , copied data (the data on partition accounting data , permissions straight forward. but second partition want reformat ntfs user profile data located, , i'm weary of messing permissions up, in fact when making copy of it, getting "do not have permission" warnings. so question : can format drive ntfs , use wsb restore entire data structure complete of correct permissions ? will work restoring data refs file system ntfs ?? i grateful if 1 of guys/girls ...

i have been working on development of locked down closed test network using server 2012 r2, both standard , datacenter versions.  on past several months, recurring problem has plaguing network.  able add computers domain , log them fine.  time passes, if reboot random server, server lose domain authentication nic.  so, when log in, server reports cannot connect authentication server, nic not show the domain name instead shows "network 3" or "unknown network" status of "public" or "private".  have opened firewall on dcs wide open, removed , re-added system domain, , after reboot issue returns randomly.  if perform reboots on either 1 of domain controllers, experience problem, resolved disabling nic re-enabling nic.  cannot seem pinpoint causing problem @ all.  here basics of servers: primary domain controller:  - dell r330 running server 2012 r2 standard alternate domain controller...

my domain using wsus uses acronis to mass deploys of image.  in event, wsus need not influenced previous reporting of confirmed install , need complete new scan accurate.  will wsus on it's own or need delete computers , re-add them groups when appear again unassigned computers? i have ongoing issue slow logons 2 citrix servers. typical logon times 30-45 seconds, on minute.. this effects users on both remote desktop connections servers , launching published apps through citrix. after inputting credentials, welcome message can take anywhere 20-40 seconds itself, applying user settings and preparing desktop can each take 10-20 seconds or more on each type of connection... all users have local profiles, roaming not issue. troublesome event on login event id 9003 (desktop window manager unable start because composited theme not in use) on logins theme service disabled , desktop experience feature turned off. not sure if tied in or not... thoughts? this result on incorrectly configured dns servers , client (being xenapp boxes) being unable correctly resolve domain resources. xenapp server have correct dns server settings configured? forum post own opinion , not reflect opinion or view of microsoft, employees, or ot...
