Windows Xp machines cannot connect to Windows Server 2008r2 after Update from Microsoft.


after allowing sever updates microsoft, customers xp machines can no longer connect windows server shares using server name.  we "can't find path error".  i can ping ip address not net-bios name.  i can connect ip address have software must use name "server" in executable.  the workgroup sees of other computers not server, server see's windows 7 machines not xp machines.  i have tried every fix can find in forums , online.  i did find , ad , dns errors during update.  errors 4004, 4005, 4015.  things have tried: ipconfig flushdns, renew, registerdns, nbtstat -a servername, etc.

1. update has caused troubles? can see in windowsupdate.log? hope have not installed driver updates ms update server.

2. complementary flushind dns cache use -r netbios

3. wins server?

4. try tune smb, namely lowering version on server.

5. if nothing helps, use network monitor analyse happens (wireshark job.)
