afternoon all, getting on windows 7 machines - seems take age logon , off.  running server 2008r2 , windows 7 machines 64 bit. have roaming profiles setup documents. one thing seem affect size of user's profile documents etc in event log things stands out following: "windows cannot locate server copy of roaming profile , attempting log on local profile. changes profile not copied server when log off. error may caused network problems or insufficient security rights.  detail - logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. we using:   windows 2003 r2 domain controller/ias server cisco authenticating switch windows xp service pack 3 client computer   the problem have when try logon xp domain user credentials unable logon because the  domain controller can't found/contacted - computer authentication completes after desktop appears. if logon cached domain credentials (i.e. skipping need domain controller) authentication completes successfully. basically need find way of forcing authentication complete before logon process starts (using computer certificate/authentication , not user authentication) users can authenticate domain controller , logon normal whilst still preventing unauthorized access devices.   turned out switch configuration issue in end - our network resource had misconfigured routing meant never have worked until change made allow client route domain controller. once change made able log onto domain. ...

hi we have cluster running on windows server 2012 r2 hyper-v feature. one vm has windows 2012 r2 standard os installed (generation 2) corrupted via restart. vm has 3 virtual disks (vhdx) - first system (dynamic size), second sql_data (fixed size) , third sql_logs (fixed size) yesterday, restarted vm , vm didn't come up, got error - 'boot failed. windows boot manager' - 'boot failed. efi scsi device' looked 3 vhdx noticed first 1 (system) corrupted - partition , mbr gone inside vhdx. second , third 1 ok, can mount them , access data on it. it looks on first vhdx (system sql 2014 installed) partition corrupted, can't repair because it's says unknown partition. there no updates applied vm, corrupted partition 40gb size (dynamical) 18gb of data used. this first generation 2 vm have, others generation 1 without problems. can please explain us, how can happened, since did nothing inside vm, cluster reports no errors, checking vhdx looks fin...

we purchased iscsi san dell house both our vm's , file server storage.  currently our vm's reside on local storage.  i have loaded vm on new storage test performance , basic management operations seem take longer normal.  the first thing noticed loading server manager upon logon seems take longer used on other servers.  i "waiting snap-ins load" while browsing different roles.  this first indication.  (is a legitimate concern?) additionally, file server performance seems lacking , average read , write speeds around 45-50mb/s seem me low.   the new storage got md3200i configured 6x15k 600gb sas , 6x7.2k 2tb nearline sas drives.  the vms going on 15k , file server data on 7.2k. my biggest concern loading our production vm's onto storage start experiencing performance issues.  what steps should go through verify performance before putting production? thanks in advance, i have accepted performance is. ...

hey everybody.  we run master / replica deployment of wsus, 1 master server , around 40 downstream replica servers on each of our satellite sites. of around week ago, there have been issues sync. downstream replica servers reporting have synced correctly , no errors, if @ console on master server no clients have reported status since issue occurred.  looking @ downstream servers option in master mmc, downstream servers have mode set 'unknown' in list of servers. details of each server entry show mode: autonomous , last rollup: not yet rolled up.  settings both , downstream servers when solution working properly. can confirm:  - each downstream server has 'this server replica of upstream server' checked - 'roll status replica downstream servers' checked.  workstations reporting in status downstream servers fine. issue status being rolled master server. there no nlb, , database external sql 2005 db.  so far, fix, we've tried: ...
