Difference between roaming profile, folder redirection and home folder
hi............................
i wanna know setting home folder on file server. how different folder redirection , roaming profile?
thanks in advance
vipin tyagi (mcse 2003) network admin
a roaming profile becomes of value when need control desktop, whether keep looking consistent because user may logon more 1 machine or (mandatory roaming profile) don't want change. example: used work airline, created single roaming profile (that mandatory) if user able make modifications desktop, lost @ logoff time , same desktop shared across maintenances bases around world. machines within hangar use same common networked location profile, thereby if needed make change on desktops had changed in 1 location.
redirection great folks need data backed up, w/o having manage individual users desktop folders. example: redirecting network location sys admin can networked location w/o having touch users desktop, can ensure data more centrally controlled managed.
a home folder point data stored user has drive mapped out user. example: when build new user , use template can have users have common z drive points common network location, such \\server\share\%username% sysadmin has backup \\server\share protect users data.
both redirection , home folder can point remote network location both different connection points user.
