Thin Client with RemoteApp (CE.net/XP/Linux)

hi all,

 

i'm hp presales consultant on thin clients , i'm testing microsoft terminal services 2008 remoteapp (witch very interesting solution compare citrix).

as know have 3 différents os  (ce.net/xp/linux), how use remoteapp under plateforms?

i'm used build citrix architecture under ica applications publishing, , great thing same infrastructure microsoft ws2k8 , remoteapp.

does know comand line connect on remoteapp rdesktop ? did ica app publishing ...

regards

some of new features of windows server 2008 terminal services, such remoteapp, require remote desktop client (rdc) 6.0 or 6.1 on client side. rdc 6.0 available vista , xp only. when windows server 2008 released, rdc 6.1 made available these platforms well. rdc 6.0 , 6.1 not available windows ce, , not part of windows ce 6 release.

 

the rdesktop project open source might extended @ time, (as per http://www.rdesktop.org/) intended "windows nt terminal server , windows 2000/2003 terminal services". not windows server 2008. means compatible rdc 5.x, not rdc 6.x. since windows server 2008 compatible older clients, rdesktop should able connect it, not able utilize new features such remoteapp.

 

what means in order application publishing on these platforms either have continue using citrix or alternatives such ericom powerterm webconnect, provision networks vas, 2x, etc. more information see this: http://ericomguy.blogspot.com/2007/10/are-windows-server-2008-terminal.html

Suspicious event log Event ID: 4905

DCOM received error "2147746132" from...
