hi,
you can use windows backup , restore files , directories new server maintains ntfs permissions. can use robocopy.exe windows server resource kit copy files , maintain ntfs permissions.
for shares, shares definitions , permissions stored in following
registry key on server:
hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\lanmanserver\shares
if export out whole key , import in new server, , if have files , folders in same path in old server, retain shares , share permissions.
about exporting disk quotas window server 2000 2008, if in domain environment, can refer following kb:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308664/en-us
if in workgroup environment, should migrate user accounts other machine, before performing file migration , importing disk quotas other server. far know, can use third-party tools msvr-migrator, claims can migrate local user other machine in workgroup. please search on internet , contact third party vendor see whether these tools can satisfy requirement.
hope helps.
