we have older hp ml370 server running ts w2003. tried usb redirection hp t5145 linux client usb printer not appear on server. checked client's redirection settings , redirected, set dymo labelprinter on the rdp connections settings still no show. read t5145 linux problems, i tried on windows ce thin client with setting usb redirection all.  again no show.  both thin client terminals have usb mouses , keyboards no issues. i checked windows server device manager on server this hardware has no usb ports, has no usb  controller in device manager. problem? there way resolve this? i tried rdp connection to our new in test w2008 r2 hyper-v rds server go live, usb printer not show here either. checked w2003 gpo have no settings disallow. how can troubleshoot this? tia, fred                 hi fred,   frist, if need redirect local print windows serv...

i've got few questions on getting iscsi network tuned preform better... 1) i've been having issues iscsi network in iterms of name resolution , getting iscsi address on intranet lan.  i have of servers dual-nics , 1 on ther iscsi (10.100.x.x) , other on intranet (10.1.x.x) i have 1 dc has nic in each can dhcp iscsi network. though since dns seem iscsi address of server getting registered in dns.  in iscsi netwotk properties, have tcp/ip enabled , unchedked register in dns. though think dhcp might registering them.  causing come clients 10.100.x.x address cannot to. whats best way besides having seperate dedicated dchp/dns server iscsi network? 2) have promise vtrak m500i 15 tb drives , great unit, though traffic going though jsut 1 of 2 controller interfaces.  since servers address via dhcp, on same physical network.  if seperate 1/2 servers on 1 switch, , others on switch, how can sure use ip address of controller on segment , not other one? thanks,   scott<- hi scott, ...

hi.. one of our groups uses word file has many excel links in it. ever since upgraded office 2010 .docx format word doc takes forever open, seems hung on excel links , keeps retrying these links until fails. in backround see excel being opened , closed many times . can wait 20 minutes file open. if file has 10 excel linkes , of links bad or on different network, still gets hung on links , tries open them strange part if save file in 2003 mode (.doc) , try open it's fine. running word 2010 sp1 patched.  happens on our machine. somehow word 2010 not @ quiting when trying open links.. help.. thanks hi, it likes excel files linked in word documents contain lot of external references. when open word document first time in word 2010, external references in excel files updated automatically. if source files not available, spend such long time complete task. i suggest open , save linked excel files in excel 2010 before open word documents. sincerely rex zhang ...

i have run odd issue, on new server replacing existing server, regarding accessing network share on domain-joined windows 2012 r2 datacenter server.   it has ip address on intranet admin side , ip address on client's network.  i have created network share appropriate ntfs & share permissions allow access files within network share.   from server within intranet admin side of network can create network mapped drive share using domain account credentials or local server account credentials.  yet if try access same share client's network access denied.  however, using client's network same domain credentials or local server credentials can rdp server fine , view files.  the issue appears related mapping network drive share via client's network. both network paths traverse through f5 bigip , network guy did tcp dump , traffic shoes reaching server before being denied. trying figure out why network mapping works fine intranet admin side not clien...

i have 2 2003 domain controllers , have built 2 2012 domain controllers.  replication has happened time , transferred roles new servers.  the think left dcpromo demote.  we had our esxi host go down held both 2003 dc on them other night , wasnt worried because 2 2012 servers up.  however nothing worked nobody login anything.  so im thinking 2012 servers havent been done correctly or havent run dcpromo?? scared demote now thanks hi first  could check replication between dc's? run "repadmin /replsum" , check fsmo holder,run "netdom query fsmo". aloha, we experiencing large network server discrepancy in relation system time clocks, , went though , ran following microsoft fixit tool set them time source.  after step, servers have maintained proper time, network clients reporting average offset of 4 minutes in past.  i can replicate issue on test machine, however, occasionally. i've gone through , done multiple: w32tm /query /peers /verbose w32tm /resync w32tm /dumpreg /subkey:parameters and seen systems reporting as nt5ds, although report no time sources available, , systems seem jump 1 dc next.  also when requesting the w32tm /resync, error out saying there no time source available. i went ahead , configured ntp client settings within gpo, , enabled default "global configuration settings", , "configure windows ntp clients", , set them use time.windows.com,0x9, doesn't seem have successfully applied, client systems still reporting changing group ...
