Start -> Run -> mstsc ERROR "unable to open connection file Default.rdp"
i created custom remote desktop file earlier week , ever since when launch remote desktop using run command error saying
unable open connection file - c:\users\administrator\documents\default.rdp
the connection file exists in path specified, isn't hidden or read only, i'm logged in administrator , have full control permissions file , system. if browse default.rdp , double click same error message.
to create custom remote desktop file did follows;
start -> run -> mstsc -> clicked options button ->changed settings under tabs way want them -> clicked save -> pointed desktop
this more of nuisance else i'd fix it. have idea why i'm getting thise error?
teenage angst has paid of well, i'm bored , old.
can remotely connect computer, without saved rdp file, using remote desktop connection?
would please try following steps see if problem remains?
1. create user, , log on computer newly created user account. check whether problem caused user profile corruptions.
2. click start, click run , type mstsc in dialog box , click ok.
3. click options expand rdc interface. type computer name want connect , click button "save as…" save rdp file different location (d:\, example). not make other changes rdp settings @ time.
4. click start , click computer. navigate location saved rdp file (d:\, example). double click rdp file see if problem remains.
if rdp can work way, well, can try typing following command in run dialog box see if can work either:
mstsc.exe d:\test.rdp (i assuming rdp file saved in location)
besides, have ever signed rdp file (e.g. using rdpsign)?
best regards,
chang yin
