Group Policy Problems on Windows 10 machines after installing KB3163018
we use group policy automatically place shortcuts file shares on our users' desktops. morning told few of our users icons had disappeared when logged on morning. after looking @ affected machines determined windows 10 machines seemed affected , ones affected had been automatically updated last night. after additional testing determined after removing 1 of updates installed (kb3163018) group policy started working again.
part of reason i'm posting here in case else finds information useful i'm curious if there way resolve issue short of uninstalling update?
hi roark,
thanks post.
this issue may occur if group policy object missing read permissions authenticated users group or if using security filtering , missing read permissions domain computers group.
to fix problem, try perform 1 of following steps:
- add authenticated users group read permissions on group policy object (gpo).
- if using security filtering, add domain computers group read permission.
it has been marked known issues on article below.
