Hyper-v design

hello there!

three of our offices getting dual fiber connection datacenter, , want host 6 of our production servers in datacenter. in datacenter need create sort of disaster recovery solution in case of hardware failure.

3x win 2008r2 exchange 2010 server 3 different companies (100 mailboxes max servers)
1x dynamics server (10 users)
1x sharepoint server (15 users)
1x terminal server (5 users)

my idea convert machines physical virtual machines , host them hyper-v environment, configure iscsi san host vhd files.

1. kind of san needed host 6 servers, qnap 8 bay san enough host 6 servers? or better 2 qnap sans host 3 servers each? or u recommend other hardware?
http://qnap.com/pro_detail_feature.asp?p_id=111

2. when configuring san, each server needs own raid array or can store servers on 1 raid 6 setup?

3. if 1 production server has hardware failure, can startup vhd spare server? , can process automated (with kind of heartbeat check)?

thanks in advance!

gr. max

hi wouldn't recommend particular hardware, see no reason why can't mange 1 san long has enough space vhd's don't need separate raid arrays per server can go on san 1 raid array, although single point of failure, may better have 2 separate luns separate out vhds if setup hyperv in failover cluster automatic failover if 1 of hosts goes down. there's lots of videos etc on our exact setup may helpful on blog, take , let me know if can more. blog: www.edutechnow.com
