Windows 2008 and IE7 Crashing
has encounted issue windows 2008 sp2 crashing ie7? have tried reinstalling multiple times on machine , everytime open ie7 crashes program not responding message , there doesn't seem can fix. have tried upgrading ie8 downloads of technet sites , won't let me upgrade, gives me message not being valid operating system. have tried running without add-ons , sorts of things , nothing seems help. issue scratch install , have done nothing apart try run it. below message getting.

i suggest trying following steps troubleshoot issue:
step 1 reset ie
==========
1. click start, run, type: “inetcpl.cpl” (without quotation marks) , press enter.
2. switch advanced tab.
3. click "reset..." button.
4. click reset confirm operation.
5. click close when resetting process has finished.
6. uncheck "enable third-party browser extensions*" option in browsing box.
7. click apply, click ok.
step 2: use ad-aware clean spyware system

1. download , install ad-aware following page:
http://lavasoft.element5.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
please note: third-party product discussed here manufactured company independent of microsoft. make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding product's performance or reliability.
2. click start button -> "all programs" -> "lavasoft ad-aware se personal" -> "ad-aware se personal" start ad-aware.
(note: if there popup box asking whether or not check definition updates, please click ok , click connect. click ok download , install latest definition, , click finish.)
3. click "start" in ad-aware window, , click "next" start scan.
4. after scan finished, click "next", click check boxes on "critical objects" tab select them, click "next", , click ok confirm removal.
this remove found spyware objects. restart computer.
step 3 safe mode
============
restart computer , keep pressing f8 enter safe mode.
does ie7 still crash? if not, let’s try step 4.
step 4 clean boot
===========
let’s disable startup items , third party services when booting. method determine if issue caused loading program or service. please perform following steps:
1. click start button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in start search box, , press enter.
note: if prompted, please click continue on user account control (uac) window.
2. click "services" tab, check "hide microsoft services" box , click "disable all" (if not gray).
3. click "startup" tab, click "disable all" , click "ok".
then, restart computer. when "system configuration utility" window appears, please check "don't show message or launch system configuration utility when windows starts" box , click ok.
please test issue in clean boot environment, if issue disappears in clean boot environment, can use 50/50 approach narrow down entry causing issue.
if issue persists, may install system scratch again.
