windows server 2008 r2 sp1, running vamt3

in vamt3 saw following error on products-windows panel

computer name: kms.company.com

product name: windows server (r), server standard

product key type: csvlk

license status: unknown

genuine status: genuine

status of last action: unknown error (0x80131904)

i have been thrust role of admin our kms server, new me.  recently installed patch win8 compatiablity (kb2885698), didn't notice problems after that.  now i'm getting error.

i have tried update license status current credentials , 'user credentials can not used local connections'.  i've attempted alternative credentials administrator account, received same error.

seeing how i'm new this, i'm pretty sure missing troubleshooting step, use advice whatsoever.  it's become rather urgent issue us.

thanks

jon

edit: should note have vamt2 on server well, , doesn't appear reporting errors.  could 2 versions causing problems?

hi,

i not sure whether issue caused 2 vamt versions in 1 system.

based on knowledge, error 0x80131904 typical sql error. worth noting in version 3.0, data no longer stored in computer information files (cil), instead stored in sql server database.

after install vamt, if have computer information list (cil) created in previous version of vamt, must import list sql database. if not have sql installed, can download free copy of microsoft sql server express , create new database can import cil.

regarding vamt, following articles can referred more information.
