Group Policy Preference - Not Applying to Windows XP SP3

folks,

i'm new group policy preferences , having difficult time getting them work properly.

here's setup:
windows xp sp3 clients (so understanding should have cse installed)
windows 2003 sp2 - ad (native mode)
windows 2008 server used configure gpp

> xp clients in ou linked gpo has gpp settings.
> old fashion group policies settings work flawlessly (pre-2008)

here's gpp settings (and problems):

1. user configuration\preferences\windows settings\registry
    - action: delete
    - hive: hkey_current_user
    - key path: software\microsoft\internet explorer\settings
    - value name: <name of value want delete>

so, here's problem: it's not deleting reg_sz. i've tried creating pref in "computer configuration\.." , still no dice.

2. user configuration\preferences\windows settings\registry
    - action: create
    - hive: hkey_current_user
    - key path: software\microsoft\office\11.0\outlook\options\mail
    - value name: junkmailimportlists
    - value type: reg_dword
    - value data: 1

similar problem: it's not creating reg_dword. i've tried creating pref in "computer configuration\.." , also, no dice.

3. user configuration\preferences\control panel settings\scheduled tasks
    - immediate task (windows xp)
    - run: regedit /s \\domain\netlogon\hkcu_script.reg
    - common tab: run in logged-on user's security context (user policy option). -> checked

so, here's deal this... because couldn't #1 or #2 work, thought resort old fashion way of implementing semi-scripted process. dismay, scheduled task not being "pulled" down xp clients. hate startup or shutdown gpo know work because want change take effect (or @ next gp refresh).

help! i've spent time playing around (eh-um, testing) this , i'm hoping else out there has encountered similar problem , has quick fix.

thanks in advance,
jackson

does mean gpp running, , the regisry item applied, result not expected?
if case, please enable gpp logging described above.

concerning user/machine behavior:
if set policy or preference item within "user configuration", gpo applied ad computer objects,
you not see on client.  "user configuration" applied user objects , vice versa ("computer configuration" computer objects only).
if ou gpo linked not contain user object which logging io client, none of the  "user configuration" settings take effect.

i justed picked settings of ölst post created gpp item in gpo linked users ou , after first gpo refresh setting
hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\office\11.0\outlook\options\mail\junkmailimportlists there dword value of 1.
this means, in general work expected.
if take in account wrote users/computers , still not working, need mentioned logfile see going wrong.
