AD domain vs www domain
hi all,
my domain domain.com , has been since before time. our web server www.domain.com. people today becoming accustomed to entering domain in browser url go site. works fine for external users, on internal network entering domain.com go domain controller and 'under construction' page or time out. far understand ad , dns there isn't way 'fix' aside creating new ad domain (not an really option) or changing our www.domain.com else (not an option)...is right? there or better way deal this?
thanks, mike

mike,
as omid said, , in 1 of links sandesh provided, way around to resolve domain name http://domain.com (without www in front of it), (summarized step step)
- install iis on each domain controller. must done on each dc.
- create www record under domain.com.
- give private, internal ip of webserver
- in iis console, default website properties, create redirect, , redirect www.domain.com.
- this way when 1 of users type in http//domain.com, resolve www record created in step 2.
note: due security reasons. not condone installing iis. of customers, tell them use www in fromt of domain name. if .com name, can instruct them type in domain in url, , hit <ctrl> + <enter>. shortcut automatically populate www in front , .com in end.
otherwise, if boss demands have work without www in front, (usually political , not technical requirement), follow above, take note on security implications.
