More than two nodes hyper-v virtual machine failover cluster

i have 4 servers in hyper-v failover cluster. wondering happens if 1 of servers shutsdown. how hyper v decides next best possible node in environment more 2 nodes hyper-v virtual machine failover cluster? should set in advanced?

hello al,

in 4-node cluster, 2 nodes go down without affecting cluster. in case node goes down, cluster stop.

each node of cluster has "vote". long more 50% of votes present, work fine.
if more 50% unavailable, cluster , virtual machines shut down.

now in case have cluster uneven number of nodes, you'll have witness. typically disk or file share. witness have 1 vote.

for maintenance on node (update installation, etc.) first pause node in failover cluster manager , drain roles before shutting down/restarting.

in windows server 2012 r2, can configure "cluster aware updating", automate whole installation/reboots of cluster nodes.

best regards,
