How to move a Guest VHD to new hard drive after RAID failure
i have hyper-v server 6 drives configured in 3 raid-1 arrays (nos, data , database). the hyper-v host installed on nos drive along vhd file guest os. on data drive vhd guest’s user data. there’s nothing on database drive.
i had failure of 1 of drives make data raid-1. the physical data drive little small pulled database drives out of system , inserted 2 new 1t drives , created new raid-1 "new data" drive. i copied guest data vhd file new drive, but, virtual machine data root (\virtual machines\) xml configuration file on original data drive…
question 1 – assumption correct if remove original data drive contains xml configuration file , try start guest, i'll have problems?
question 2 – if assumption in question #1 correct, there simple way move xml file new data drive (copying it's simple, don't see way redirect hyper-v new location)?
i know can “export” new data drive (fortunately it’s large enough hold everything) , import system, but, i’ll have go in , change mapping guest os location (putting original location on nos drive)…
thanks , advance can get!

hi!
you can perform export/import of configuration files only, ben armstrong described on blog here:
you create new virtual machine @ desired location, , attach existing vhd files it.
Windows Server > Hyper-V
