SBS 2008 - Drive Letters for USB Hard Drives

setting backup user, 5x daily rotating usb hard drive.

the network has f: mapped , in logon script.

when plug usb drive in windows automatically gives f: - should not occur, why it?

so go ahead , change assigned letter of each drive 1 one z: or whatever want (first tried g:).

once i've gone through , set 5, plug first in , receive either f:, g: or z:.

to clear i've plugged them each in individually (only 1 lead with) , confirmed have letter assigned before removing. backup software using (backupassist 6.4.1) works lot smoother if drives 1 letter (and don't want user seeing "completed minor warnings" because drive letter wrong).

so, why windows assigning letter unique drive, later on assigning different letter same drive?

edit - yes have removed other letter assignments drive - in in disk management have "changed" drive letter assignment, not added ones.

hi,

have try remove 5 usb devices in device manager windows reinstall driver of these devices. check if issue still exists.
