Share spanning multiple drives?
i working in small network environment , want have network share that, regrettably, set this:
"project-research (a-h)"
"project-research (i-r)"
"project-research (s-z)"
"project-production (project files)"
where (a-h) represents research on objects starting through h, next share i-r, next share s-z. terrible setup each share 500-700gb , on separate 1tb drives.
what able have share \\server\project_research have 'a-h' share, 'i-r' share, , 's-z' share within it. have 'share' not restricted drive on. able without having buy new hdds or resort raid solution. thought dfs might solution realized requires multiple servers, ect.
any advice appreciated! thank you!
ps-i running date win2008 server , 4 win7 pro/ultimate workstations.
hi,
this not tested have try - create symbolic link link network folder:
mklink local_dir \\ip-or-servername\sharename /d
if works, create 2 symbolic links connected other 2 workstations.
