Server 2008 R2, Ping General Failure for some addresses

this server running windows server 2008 r2 enterprise x64, 4gb ddr2 ram on 2.66ghz core 2 duo. i'd have decommission server specifics on motherboard. functioning simple file-server, couple other small applications running in background, tftp. roles installed "file services" , "hyper-v", since i've run virtual machines, on occasion.

the issue that's annoyed me enough post here unable connect (kinda important) websites. primary 1 www.microsoft.com, means can't updates microsoft security essentials. other ones know of @ moment www.virtualbox.org , www.mst.edu. have eliminated isp , router potential problems fact other computers on network have no such issues, , plugging server directly modem. have eliminated dns problem fact can resolve addresses same addresses other machines on network, can connect sites. tracert reveals...

as far can remember, issue has been present since first installed server, or close it.

change nic advance settings disable tcpchimney,tcp offload, jumbo packets , try. if above doesn't solves use packet tracing utilities wireshark , netmon know root cause of problem.
