Event ID :1058 missing sysvol path for gpt.ini

i have 2x 2003 standard r2 sp2 branch domain controllers both having following issue:

event type: error
event source: userenv
event category: none
event id: 1058
date:  13/06/11
time:  2:01:55 p.m.
user:  gabnz\clai
computer: nztrg01
description:
windows cannot access file gpt.ini gpo cn={4e1c755b-38d2-40b8-9eb2-de3f0533f15e},cn=policies,cn=system,dc=wan,dc=gabrobins,dc=co,dc=nz. file must present @ location <\\wan.gabrobins.co.nz\sysvol\wan.gabrobins.co.nz\policies\{4e1c755b-38d2-40b8-9eb2-de3f0533f15e}\gpt.ini>. (the system cannot find path specified. ). group policy processing aborted.

both running dfs seems replicating ok. had issue gpos not replicating through these 2 dcs , found these logs on both server. i've browsed namespace indicated , noticed path gpt.ini suppose missing completely!

i've taken on network not sure how might have happened.

hi,

generally, userenv 1058 errors can related 1 of several factors. example,

1. incorrect permission. instance, incorrect acl on sysvol may cause issue.

2. corrupt dfs cache. due corrupt dfs cache, problematic dc may referred incorrect target obtain gpt.

3. insufficient privilege. in cases, insufficient user right may cause issue.

4. mismatched security configuration. sometimes, may configure mismatched security settings such smb signature. 

meanwhile, troubleshoot issue, may check detailed error code in userenv 1058 see happens when trying apply group policy. example, sometimes, can "access denied" or "the specified path couldn't found". then, can check corresponding configurations according code.

DFSR RPC replication errors 5014 1726 with large files over VPN
