KB4038782 Causes VSS Catastrophic Failure on some systems (Server 2016)
after installing security update: kb4038782 have vss catastrophic failure on systems, not of them, happened after update installed.
windows backup not run due vss catastrophic failure
have same issue?
- i've reregistered vss writers
- i've uninstalled wbadmin / reinstalled, same issue.
possibly: data file sharing service affected. causing freeze server , file shares not accessible after hours.
- remote desktop not possible, after reboot, functional again.
- applied server 2016 data file sharing fix mentioned here: http://www.neighborgeek.net/2017/05/server-2016-data-sharing-service.html did not resolve this.

in addition, snapshot creation may fail if file system errors encountered. also perform error checking on volume running chkdsk /f or chkdsk /r on it.
best regards,
mary
