The file or directory is corrupted and un-readable

what causes file become corrupt. error "the file or directory corrupted , un-readable.  have 2 files , 1 directory error. how resolve this?

server windows 2003 r2

hello,

 if want check errors on drive run in command prompt: chkdsk c: (or other drive letter).

 you can try run check disk utility on mentioned drive, parameter /f = force, which fixes errors on disk. aware, if non-system disk, can unmount drive temporarly. if affected files on sytem drive, need reboot server , right after reboot, check disk check disk , fix errors. (from time time neccessarily run in twice).
