Make WSE2012 visible in network

i prefer have server being listed 'computer' under 'network' in windows explorer, saves me having type \\servername in address field.

i found had start service 'computer browser' achieve this.

this service set 'disabled', assume design.

what reason this? security risk?

i run wse2012 @ home storage server.

the comuter browser service relies on netbios being phased out.

http://blogs.technet.com/b/networking/archive/2008/07/25/netbios-browsing-across-subnets-may-fail-after-upgrading-to-windows-server-2008.aspx

maybe useful discussion here:

i have idea in head deliberate attempt shift people away netbios - own benefit, cant remember why lol.

this useful read.. http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/tcpip/life-without-netbios

i think in enterprise @ least netbios limiting.. , need deploy wins, preferred use dns required ad.

i have feeling leave in, smaller networks - dont know sure.
