windows 2008 server, the web and SQL server 2005
hopefully can clear me. have read different things , need verify info. in need of 2 new servers , looking @ making them windows 2008 servers because have security issue between our current domain control on windows 2008 , security within windows 2003.
i addition want run website , intranet applications run off of sql server. understand windows 2008 web server server allow installation of sql server , running of web sites , apps on same server, true???
if dont windows 2008 web server , purchase standard edition, must purchase standard edition , server sql server ???
must buy three servers instead of 2 accomplish used able 1 server (mind not fastest server in world worked)
someone please clarify muddy water in which we call windows 2008 server catalog.

this not true.
you can install microsoft sql server , internet information services (iis) on top of standard, enterprise , datacenter editions well, without problems. windows web server however recently got a new licensing model, makes more cost-efficient than the other editions (in authenticated scenarios) because there's no need buy client access licenses (cals) it.
