Will Windows XP GPOs work on Windows 7?

we have mix of server 2003 & 2008, , our workstations windows xp.  we're going move windows 7 shortly, i'm extremely worried mean our gpos.  have lot of gpos on our main ou, on each subou.  windows xp settings compatible windows 7?  or there tool can run tell me gpos on ous won't apply or cause problems on windows 7?

there's no tool know of.
many settings applicable, others not apply @ (or irrelevant).
possibly cause unexpected behaviour, or ineffective.
(ineffective, because there new ways things)

you need test, ensure necessary settings effective, if not, seek out alternatives/equivalents.

your existing gpo's, documentation, , ms documentation (reference spreadsheets etc) best guide.

in our environment, when planning/designing our xp -> w7 migration, exported html reports of gpo's , painstakingly reviewed/compared settings apply xp, , assessed relevance/applicability w7.

copied/linked test ou, built few test w7 machines, , adjusted/removed/added according our needs.
there settings aren't relevant w7, others (eg office settings) applicable , work fine as-is.
our environment not make extensive use of gpo, , @ time, did not use gpp @ all.
i'm happily managing 2 gp environments within single forest, but, our ad ou structure allows me keep 2 sets of gp isolated, can deliver different treatments each platform.

i've put wiki article on of available downloadable references/tools gp, hope may help:
