Folder ACL's and Inheritable Permissions Issue

hello everyone, i'm new here , here goes first post!

i'm hoping can shed light onto issue have. believe design cannot explain behavior.

i have windows server 2008 r2 file server in domain environment.

a folder default inherited permissions has following inherited acl's.

  • creator owner (special)
  • system (full control)
  • administrators (myfileserver\administrators) (full control)
  • users (myfileserver\users) (read & execute)

in scenario, remove 'users' , allow 'administrators' access, disable 'include inheritable permiissions' , 'add' them list good. issue occurs when remove 'users' , leave 'administrators' group.

once this, can no longer access folder 'domain administrator' (access denied) permissions imply should able since file servers local 'administrators' group contacts domain 'domain admins' group, of domain user account member.

i can work around either adding myself or domain 'domain admins' group folder's acl list, know why doesn't work file servers local 'administrators' group. , makes less sense me why does work when 'users' have modify rights?

i'm assuming there reason explain behaviour it's got me stumped.

any ideas?

propably caused uac, try disabling on server (winkey + r, msconfig, tools, launch uac , turn off), after reboot shouldnt deny access anymore
