Connecting to a remote FTP server

i need connect new external 3rd party ftp sites server inside network. (lan based! not dmz). jobs mix of upload / download jobs. can enhance security our side. can use sftp client encrypt connection ftp site. possible? 

because sites hosted externally should security team care?

Suspicious event log Event ID: 4905
