Domain Server Replication through SMTP

hi, configured 2008 domain server - ho , child domain our remote branch, ho connected dedicated internet link , remote vsat link.

so planned replicate through smtp, , made site both location made link also, wants know how connectivity works, through public ip work ? or require vpn connection ? both side public ip nat private ho server ip : 192.168.1.2 255.255.225.0 192.168.1.1

in branch : 192.168.0.10 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1, in smtp replication can type public ips?

just point out, smtp connectors designed when windows 2000 active directory first released handle slower wan links (128kb , under) @ time. is vsat connection slow require smtp connectors?

if line fast enough, why not use ip connectors? it's less complex, no ca required tls cert, etc.

as ipsec vpn tunnel, that's configured between 2 routers/firewalls @ each location. use public ips endpoints vpn tunnel please check firewall/router documentation on how create vpn tunnel between 2 devices.

whether use smtp connector or ip connector (which easiest), vpn must up, first establish communication between locations, setup ad sites, ip subnet objects, associate ip subnet objects respective ad site, , move dcs respective sites.
