What is best practice for placing WDS and destination computers and couple of other questions.

i sucessfully deployed wds.
i can capture , deploy captured image new pc.

i have couple of questions:

1. best practices placing wds server , destination pcs.
presently connected wds , dest. comp switch connected lan port connected core switch. theoretically capture or installation traffic remain on same switch , should not travell through network. correct?

ideally, wanted create separate ad on separate switch. collegue against second dhcp server in building, if separate network :).

2. when install captured image find folder windows.old. how eliminate during capture? when capturing provided folder on external drive.
i guess windows.old should there , not in clean image.

and 1 more question:

3. year ago tried microsoft deployment solution contained sql server (i used virtual appliance microsoft).
i remember able add programs existing images.
i`"played" 2 days , remember worked fine. was?
when started ms deployment services surprised there no sql. after deployment understood different product.
