Windows Updates corrupt PST files on Roaming Profiles

hi guys!

having troubles windows updates , roaming profiles...

tunned gpo "exclude directories in roaming profile" force sync "appdata\local" way backup outlook pst files "appdata\local\microsoft\outlook"

has been working great long time, because windows update manually installed on each pc local admin user (no roaming user).

enable windows updates gpo force automatically meanwhile user logged on:
gpo: configure automatic updates value -> 4 = automatically download updates , install them on schedule specified below.

then, warning comes users asking reboot finish updates... usual.

user click on reboot
or
nothing , turn of computer @ end workday

on both cases, pst corrupted.

sure timeout issue... reason, windows updates brake pst sync on shutdown (or reboot) , let corrupted.

nothing relevant showed on windows event. not following steps enable debug events https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj649075(v=ws.11).aspx

on event viewer\applications ands services logs\microsoft\windows\user profile service\
operational: event 7, succesfully profile sync
diagnostics: nothing relevant.. few events 1001 , 1002 (can't find id event)

if set windows updates to: 3 = (default setting) download updates automatically , notify when ready installed , pst sync ok.

happens on headqarter... @ headoffice work ok...and reasson:

headoffice: server home place -> lan 1gb
headquarter: use headoffice server -> wan link headoffice fo 10mb

so... users on headoffice syn @ 1gb , users on headquarter sync @ 10mb.

think should change windows updates behavior @ logoff...but no idea how can it.

it seems issue caused network condition me.

quote kb article below might explain why .pst files corrupted in case:

“.pst files not intended enterprise network solution. although possible specify network directory or universal naming convention (unc) path storage location .pst file, network usage not meant long-term, continuous-use method of storing messages in enterprise environment.

.pst file file-access-driven method of message storage. file-access-driven means computer uses special file access commands operating system provides read , write data file.

this not efficient on wan or lan links because wan , lan links use network-access-driven methods. these commands operating system provides send data to, or receive from, networked computer. if there remote .pst file (over network link), outlook tries use file commands read file or write file. however, operating system must send commands on network because file not located on local computer. creates lots of overhead , increases time required read , write file. additionally, the use of .pst file on network connection may result in corrupted .pst file if connection degrades or fails.”

in addition,

“outlook 2010 or later versions functionality supported when networked .pst or .ost files used under following conditions: 

  • a high bandwidth/low latency network connection used.
  • there is single client access per file (one outlook client per .pst or .ost).
  • either windows server 2008 r2 or later remote desktop session host (rdsh), or windows server 2008 r2 or later virtual desktop infrastructure (vdi) used run outlook remotely.”

please use these recommended approaches below avoid corrupted .pst files issue:

  • use office 365 exchange online, microsoft exchange server 2013 or microsoft exchange server 2010 personal archive mailboxes.
  • configure microsoft outlook in cached exchange mode. caches exchange server mailbox data in local offline folders (.ost) file.
  • configure outlook run on windows terminal services , connect exchange server mailbox in online mode.

Schannel Issue

hello there, i have windows 2008 r2 machine. , have hosted sharepoint 2010 on it. i have site have published on internet. i don't know whether it's related , getting error unable resolve or come conclusion. it's pretty frequent. my server patched latest updates. log name:      system source:        schannel date:          8/12/2011 3:49:43 pm event id:      36887 task category: none level:         error keywords:      user:          system computer:      mycomp.domain.com description: following fatal alert received: 42.   the above error doesn't provide info . could please me identify issue , possible solution ? there have been lot of posts one. i believe can safely ignored...

oclist /xml or /?

oclist have qualifiers? can behaviour changed, example output xml?   given previous comments andrew m , comments in forums , blogs think answer no, it’s simple app calling underlying api, thought i'd ask can't seem find anything.   why asking question? i'd @ least 2 things oclist (apart nicer looking output [which i'm not going get], dependances listed [dicussed in forum , ruled out], , refrushing add ad componets , telling use dcpromo [which in banner know]): - whether installing component cuase / require reboot (currently believe qwave , printing services require reboot)   - xml output, can't justify team looking see if can commality with full server   fwiw :j   hi,   oclist not have qualifiers or ways change output. when iis came in late, make oclist output longer, unfortunately late make significant changes.   i'll take feedback , add our list next version.   thanks,   andrew   ...
