Strange behaviour of (redirected) printers in TS2008 Servers!
hello,
i have 2 customers have similar problem using redirected printers ts2008 / rds2008 server.thing is, these 2 customers have 2 different lob applications see same kind of problem in both of them.
symptoms:
when user connects ts (printer mapping not activated in rdp client) deployed printers showing of corse. these users connects home or other external places, , not everytime have printer reditrection deactivated , of corse (redirected 1) session får local printers, next time same (redirected 2) , on.
no problem att in regards "normal" applications. 2 lob applications there´s big big problem, when use print dialog , choose printer listed can see historical (redirected) printers in list, , have seen many 100 som users :(
said they´re shown in lob applications not in windows session itself.
situation can´t have how can fix permanently ?
have checked regedit , sure enough can find these (redirected) printers there @ various places , if delete them manually gone in thh lob app too, user connects again printer redirection enabled , list starts build again :(
long list of printers here in registry.

in ts lockdown policy have
not set default client printer default printer in session not configured
not allow client printer redirection not configured
use remote desktop easy print printer first disabled
specify rd session host server fallback printer driver behavior enabled (default pcl if 1 not found)
can i delete these entrys in registry script , if how ? don´t wanna go through manually deleting these take forever , problem once user connects new session :(
i guess can enable gpo redirect default client printer
but solves problem somewhat.
i have many other customers using ts2008 servers , lob applications have not ssen beaviour anywhere else than
with these 2 customers , 1 thing no other customers using these 2 specific applications guess problem somehow
lies within programming of these lob apps....but cannot sure of corse.
does have solution @ hand ?
/tony
i suggest limiting redirect, list still build. found out when win2k8 first came out keeps history of connected printers in registry user.
this can bad if dealing bad programming, reference historical data. nextgen has problem in of applications.
i ended having delete cache on exit through script. performed registry delete @ time. sorry dont have script though :(.
