Hyper V Home Lab?

i'm in need of creating hyper v virtual machines. need suggestions on how that,

i'm running windows 10. turned on hyperv feature. created external virtual switch. while creating vm i've chosen network switch created in previous step.

i have vm & internet working in that. but, can take rdc[remote destop] of when connected internet & not when internet not available.

please me whether i've done or not. else needs done connect[remote desktop] vm without internet. other steps needs performed.

hi,

i think understood issue. correct me please.

  1. you created external  virtual switch use external network card (wifi or wired)
  2. when computer use connected network (wifi or cable), can remote vm via rdp
  3. when not connected can't

this expected, why ?

  1. when connected network, vm gets ip address dhcp (of router), can use ip connect it
  2. when not connected, vm has no ip (neither pc)

how solve ?

there 2 ways, simple , little more complicated

the simple

use enhanced session mode in hyper-v. allow rdp vm without ip address or network communication :http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/42421-hyper-v-enhanced-session-mode-turn-off.html

the more complicated

you should set vm ip , computer ip static ip. allow pc , vm have ip wherever are. drawback if connect network, can't communicate internet unless set pc , vm original state dynamic ip. when setting vm , pc static ip, should belongs same network.

how achieve : have better use same ip configuration of home.

1-

go pc --> open cmd --> type : ipconfig /all

note ip, mask, gateway, dns1, dns2

do same in vm

2- own use gathered information set pc, , vm ips static
