DNS not resolving some addresses?
i have 2 domain controllers , have dns configured on both. forwarders configured point isp, however, addresses not being resolved. if manually change dns on of computers point isps dns first works fine.
i don't see error messages , looks setup correctly. don't know else at. suggestions?
servers 2008 r2.
thanks in advance,
linn
hi ace,
ok, getting frustrating.
tried suggestion, can't fail now. on dc1 , dc2 set forwarders include charter primary dns server. seems resolving on these 2 servers using nslookup.
however, on efilter server... removed dc1 , dc2 in network dns configuration.
if run nslookup on efilter , leave pointing servers doesn't resolve mx records yahoo or hotmail. if set nslookup server charter servers resolve them.
setting vc on efilter server against dc1 gets different error message:dc1.mydomain.com can't find yahoo.com: server failed
so tell us? looking dns having issues?
thanks,
linn
hi linn,
i'm not sure efilter server is. service or application on server, or control internet access websites, etc? can provide more info on server? have role in dns resolution in infrastructure?
you said you've "[...] removed dc1 , dc2 in network dns configuration." i'm not quite sure means. i'm assuming efilter server part of organization , ad infrastructure, therefore assume uses dcs dns addresses (as should in ad infrastructure) can find ad resources. otherwise, if not part of ad, can understand if uses some other dns server and efilter server doesn't require find ad , other internal resources using dns.
maybe if can understand efilter server may in figuring out. if nslookups work on other servers using dcs dns addresses have been configured charter forwarders, doesn't work on efilter server, seems maybe on server.
curious, if try these tests workstation, you get the same results?
if remove charter dns addresses forwarders , use 4.2.2.2 , 4.2.2.3, same results machine?
