are using wsus server windows update? if yes, then check:

1. if client resolve wsus server's fqdn correctly;

3. check network connection between client , server, use ping command check result;

4. if running third-party software or anti-virus software, stop them , test again;

5. verify if update approved install on wsus server. , test if install update via microsoft update (check update online) internet.

6. if still doesn't work, may post recent windowupdate log further troubleshooting, location of log: c:\windows\windowsupdate.log
