New Canon Plotter added to environment users can map to it but when you look at the Properties of the Plotter its showing Hewlett-Packard not canon

please forgive me if not correct place ask stumped. here situation have users using roaming profiles. map , connect newly installed canon ifp3000 plotter among alot of other hewlet-packard 8150dn printers. plotters reside on separete print server hp printers. when @ printing preferences of newly mapped plotter says hewlett-packard not canon should.
i had user log pc , map plotter fine can see correct properties of not have hp printing preferences own pc pc. can map , fine. on hp xw6400 workstations not working seems .i had user log in , unmap printers , log out , in , remap plotter same thing. thought profile issue renamed profile user using " clean" profile same issue on pc. had user log in , opened registry , unmap each printer , see disappearing each reg entry in hklm/printers.
so thinking local registry setting not deleting. reimaged user's machine , fine go figure have other having issue , not want have reimage anymore pc fix problem. on 1 pc after map plotter not bringing drivers canon , using hp ones reason , cannot tell in registry or in windows xp pro sp2 need look.

any ideas in registry fix have never ever seen problem before , happening users rather not have reimage , reinstall applications? else seen before? maybe if localize user having issue unmap printers , remap put roaming restart might fix not sure thing on machines don't think profile issue.
canon , hp forums not either
