Windows 2008 R2 Web Server upgrade to Windows 2012 Standard

i've asked question on iis forums since more setup/upgrade issue iis problem copy posts here , hope point me direction should answer.
i'm testing in cloned vm upgrade process from windows 2008 r2 web server windows 2012 standard , during upgrade looks fine after win2012 startup i've noticed applicationhost.config file has been replaced clean 1 (instead of many websites see default web site) , iis informs me there incompatibilites. can point me direction should has been incompatible? since clone vm testing i've done testing. i've copied old applicationhost.config file c:\windows.old\..... directory , replaced 1 windows 2012, i've enabled world wide web publishing service (automatically startup) , changed windows process activaction service startup status disabled manual. allowed me start iis of websites configured previously. had lot of rewrite.dll errors in event log , i've found topic:
after repairing iis url rewrite 2 installation i'm not getting errors in event log -> applications , websites looks working fine. don't know if can make kind of hack in real production system because don't know changes has been made applicationhost.config file nice know mentioned incompatibility in iis 7.5 configuration whole upgrade process should done win 2012 upgrade installer. can related error iis url rewrite 2 module since 1 module caused issues?
edit: i've reverted pre update snapshot, removed iis url rewrite 2 , after upgrading applicationhost.config file still being replaced module not cause if incompatibility.
edit2: try remove .net 1.1 2008 , update again. maybe cause of incompatibility. if know information causing problem grateful posting information under thread.
edit3: removing .net 1.1 before upgrade process didn't fixed incompatibility issue. there 1 more thing. when opening iis manager right after information incompatibility there link "click here view latest iis 7.0 compatibility information" points to http://technet.microsoft.com/library/cc732976%28ws.10%29.aspx. shouldn't link related iis 8 instead of 7?

does have idea can wrong?
so far i've ended exporting shared configuration in iis 7.5, changing entries version 7.5.0.0 8.0.0.0 , importing configuration iis 8. works , stick solution.

i think deserves same answer gave in other forum posted. yes, setup question, setup specific iis , not windows server. find people more knowledgeable aspects of iis in iis forum, including iis setup. in fact, there iis setup forum - http://forums.iis.net/1047.aspx/1?setup
