live Migration failed due to Hyper-V Virtual SAN switch issue
hi folks ,
i have 3 servers connected 2 san switches ,created 2 virtual san switch , 1 virtual machine created , has virtual hpa connected . when trying move virtual machine host lm failed error
live migration of 'virtual machine host2' failed.
virtual machine migration operation 'vm' failed @ migration destination 'host2'. (virtual machine id 16741329-3b1b-42ce-926d-4f6486fa3ce6)
'host2' synthetic fibrechannel port: failed start reserving resources error 'this operation returned because timeout period expired.' (0x800705b4). (virtual machine id 16741329-3b1b-42ce-926d-4f6486fa3ce6)
'host2': npiv virtual port operation on virtual port (c003ff71e94e0004) failed error: pre-determined timeout period virtual port operation (60 seconds) expired. (virtual machine id 16741329-3b1b-42ce-926d-4f6486fa3ce6)
although configuration following :
- npiv enabled in ports
- the same ports in san switch created uplink of same virtual san switch name" ports of san switch 1 created vsan1, ports of san switch 2 created vsan2 "
using vhbas requires lot more management other way of achieving ha. unless there specific reason why want use vhbas, suggest trying else.
the reason additional management required (and can result in errors similar seeing) each vm has 2 sets of wwpns in order accommodate live migration. therefore, when configuring zoning/masking have ensure have both sets of wwpn defined paths.
